I can recommend the best places to head for but we always stay at the same basic hotel in central Wales (Rhayader). The hotel is by no means the Ritz but the owner Mary is an avid supporter of trail riding not only on horse back but also two wheels and has lobbied the local councils to keep all the trails open and has achieved great things for the off road community. Mary not only cooks up a hearty breakfast, she is very knowledgeable of the green lanes in Wales and is more than happy to offer advice and help mark up maps... Byways & Green Lanes Wales

Wales is the ultimate place to explore byways and greenlanes. August 15th 2008 myself and a friend called Pete set of in a transit van with a Honda XR250 and a Suzuki DR350 for a week trail riding in Wales.

The byways and green lanes in Wales are none surpassed, rolling hills, amazing scenery, plenty of water crossings, relaxed rides as well as very technical ones. As expected it didn't stop raining once and petrol, shops and civilisation are far and few between but that all adds to the fun of Wales' byways.
